Business Mentor

Summary

A business mentor is a steady second opinion for owners who mostly need someone experienced to think out loud with — before the new hire, the price rise, the lease, the big client. Less structured than a coaching program, easier to fit around a busy shop, and grounded in decades of running and fixing small businesses.

What Mentoring Is

Mentoring is the lightest-touch way to work with us: regular check-ins — monthly for most owners — where you bring the decisions on your desk and leave with a clearer view of them. There is no curriculum and no homework. The value is judgement: someone who has seen a hundred versions of your situation, has no stake in flattering you, and will say plainly when a plan has a hole in it. Between check-ins you can reach out when something cannot wait.

The Decisions Mentors Earn Their Keep On

The pattern across our mentoring clients is consistent: the expensive mistakes are rarely daily operations — they are the occasional big calls made alone. Signing a lease the revenue cannot carry yet. Hiring a manager because you are tired, not because the role is defined. Taking a large client whose terms quietly turn your business into their department. A mentor will not make these calls for you, but you will make them with your eyes open, having stress-tested the numbers and named the risks out loud first.

Mentoring, Coaching or Consulting?

Choose mentoring when the business runs adequately and what you want is judgement on demand. Choose coaching when you want structured, accountable change week by week. Choose consulting when you want analysis and hands-on implementation done with you. Plenty of clients move between the three as their business changes — starting with a mentor check-in rhythm and stepping up to coaching when a bigger push is on. We serve Langley City, Walnut Grove, Willoughby and the wider Fraser Valley in person, and the rest of Canada online.

FAQ

What does a business mentor do?

A mentor gives an owner a regular, experienced second opinion on real decisions — hiring, pricing, leases, big clients — without the structure or cost of a full coaching program.

How often do mentoring sessions run?

Monthly works for most owners, with direct access in between for decisions that cannot wait. The cadence flexes with what the business is going through.

Is a mentor worth it for a small shop?

Small businesses benefit most: one avoided bad lease or mis-hire pays for years of mentoring, and small owners usually have nobody impartial to talk to.

Do you mentor outside the Fraser Valley?

Yes. In-person check-ins run from our Langley office; owners elsewhere in BC and across Canada meet by video on the same cadence.
