Summary
An independent business advisor for owners facing a decision that is hard to unwind — buying equipment, taking on debt, opening a second location, or selling. We lay out the options, the cost of each, and the risk you are actually taking on. No products sold and no commissions, serving Langley and the Fraser Valley in person and Canada online.
Why Independence Is the Whole Point
Most advice an owner hears comes from someone selling something — the banker’s advice ends in a loan, the broker’s in a listing, the vendor’s in an invoice. An independent advisor has exactly one product: the analysis itself. We do not sell financial products, take referral fees or earn commissions on your decisions, which means the recommendation can be “wait”, “walk away” or “do the cheaper thing” as easily as “proceed”. For a decision you cannot easily reverse, that neutrality is worth more than any single piece of expertise.
The Decisions We Advise On
The common ones: financing equipment or a fit-out, and whether the revenue case actually carries the debt; a second location, and what it does to margins and the owner’s week; buying a competitor or a book of business; bringing in a partner or key hire with equity; and preparing to sell — what the business is realistically worth, and which fixable weaknesses are discounting it today. For each, the work product is the same: your options laid out side by side, the full cost of each including the ones that hide, and the risks named specifically enough that you can decide with your eyes open.
How Advisory Engagements Run
Advisory work is decision-shaped, so it is scoped per decision rather than sold as a retainer: we agree on the question, gather the numbers, pressure-test the assumptions with you, and put the analysis in writing plainly enough to share with a spouse, partner or lender. Owners who face big calls regularly often keep a light ongoing arrangement afterwards — a standing second opinion, without minimums. Meetings run in person from our Langley office or by video anywhere in Canada.
FAQ
What does a business advisor do?
Lays out the options on a hard-to-reverse decision — equipment, debt, expansion, sale — with the true cost and risk of each, so the owner decides with full information.
Are you financial advisors?
No. We do not sell investments, insurance or financial products, and we earn no commissions — the advice is about business decisions, and independence from the outcome is the point.
When should I bring in an advisor?
Before the commitment is signed, not after. The best time is when you are seriously considering the move but nothing is locked in — that is when analysis can still change the outcome.
Do you advise on selling a business?
Yes — realistic value, the weaknesses currently discounting it, and the order to fix them in before going to market. We do not broker the sale itself, which keeps the advice unconflicted.
